About this event
Skills Day 2025:
The CDIs have an exciting day of performance-driving skills development planned!
This is to reward AX/PDS instructors and volunteers who have helped out since 2021.
This will be a FREE all-day event on: Saturday October 4th* from 7am-5pm at NICU Amphitheatre (*note the new date).
We want to reward instructors and volunteers for their hard work and contributions to the club to help rebuild the AX/PDS program over the past 4 years. This is an excellent opportunity to have some fun, develop your car-control skills, and share coaching tips with fellow instructors and volunteers.
New Format:
This will be different than previous "Instructor Days" when we just did a free AX and most people drove solo. For this new Skills Day, we want two people in the car as much as possible, and we will constantly rotate. Since we're normally so busy working with students and organizing and running the events, this dedicated skills day is your rare opportunity to drive and ride with a variety of fellow drivers to learn and demonstrate some impressive skills! This will also be a great chance for many of our new or aspiring instructors to get some valuable coaching and instructing practice to help build confidence.
The event structure will be similar to the traditional Saturday PDS exercises, but there will be modifications for added challenge and fun for our advanced drivers. The three stations will consist of:
- Skidpad + Cornering
- Dynamic + Slalom
- Accident + Braking
At each station, we will split into three groups and rotate through these roles:
- Driving
- Passenger (coaching / learning / practice instructing)
- Course Worker (flag, timing, or cone duty)
Everyone should get tons of seat time, so it will be a really fun and active day!
Coffee, snacks, lunch, and post-event drinks will be provided.
Event requirements
The Skills Day event is open to instructors and volunteers who have helped with AX and/or PDS over the past 4 years since we restarted the programs after COVID. For volunteers, we are including people who helped with at least one full day of PDS as well as our regular AX volunteers (timing, registration, equipment, safety, etc.) and board members. If in doubt, please email cdiax@pcasdr.org.
Cars will need to pass our standard AX tech inspection to participate. All other AX safety and participation requirements also apply, including helmets and club membership (PCA, BMWCCA, or SCCA).
If you are a volunteer with limited or no performance driving experience, we should still be able to accommodate you. Just contact us, and we'll make sure you are always paired with an instructor for each exercise.
